OUR FUTURE SELF

Do you see yourself in the future? Do you have any plans for 5, 10, 15 years from now? Do you have any idea what you will be like? I do. I have in the back of my mind a picture of myself, she is kind of like a more mature self, a more developed and experienced self. She is more patient, kind, intelligent, wise. She is put together, and groomed, everything that I am striving to be as a person, she is. Do you have a future self vision?

Why is this even necessary? I'll tell you why... change. Change is inevitable, and unavoidable. It will take place, the way it wants to, and how it wants to. It is all about how we allow it to mold us and direct it that matters. We have to have something to strive for, otherwise we go about our life in a haze, allowing months days and years to pass by, seemingly without purpose. Glossed over, and unaware of the events taking place around us. When we are striving for something, we notice what is important to that vision, and what is not. These are our deep sense of values. Our values set the line that will allow or disallow things into our life. Our boundaries.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they then gold, even much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. -Psalm 19: 7-17

This is when we start to shift in our behaviors, our mind set, our perspective. We begin aligning with our future self and not living in our present self. To be aware of our future self, seems odd at first. We feel out of place, and maybe we even get frustrated because we are not there yet. At this time, we begin to feel the pressure of change. We go through things that will see if we are ready to take on this new role we want and envision. We have to gain the experience, and knowledge so we can fill that image with authenticity.

Some people have visions, but reject the change only later to ask why they have been in the same place for years, or wonder why their life is stuck. We have to be malleable. For years I asked, why me? What is wrong with me that I have to endure this, go through this, feel this, experience this? Now, I ask, What am I meant to learn in this? How is this going to help me or someone else? The Bigger our visions are for ourselves, the bigger the change will be to propel you there. The change you experience will be the foundation that holds the vision you have.

The foundation is the most important part of a house, It is unseen, and takes the most work but the whole house depends on its creditability. If the foundation is weak, or breaks, the house must be destroyed and rebuild. The processes that you endure, that no one knows or understands that your going through is the development of your foundation. When you get to where your going your foundation will be the confidence, conviction, and proof that you are who you say you are. You must constantly be adjusting your future self so that you may always have growth ahead, everchanging, and growing. Never stop. Always look ahead, catching glimpses of the past in the mirror. Remembering what you have came through, how you arrived, and what it took to endure.

Where do you start? Start with vision. The end of a thing. Then just begin.

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he. -Proverbs 29:18
