Summer Sun Protection

One of my biggest passions is caring for my skin, educating others about their skin, and helping the environment at the same time. It has been proven that the chemicals in our sunscreen are killing of the natural coral reefs that we have left and effecting the water ecosystems that are the natural homes for our fish and sea life. In Florida, where I live now, Mote Marine is developing new and effective ways all the time to help save our seas and its inhabitants. They have helped to bring back herds of manatees. and pods of dolphins that are thriving and healthy.

We can all play a role in doing just one small thing that will help protect, and save, and start reversing the damage that has been done. The best way to start is implementing small things that help you and others. Sunscreen is a great starting place! Summer is here, its fourth of July weekend, it is time for fun, family, sun, and celebration! The sun is strong and hot, and we need to protect ourselves from sun damage that can lead to more serious health issues. So, help yourself while helping the environment.

Getting sunscreen with all natural mineral ingredients free of parabens, sulfates, dyes, perfumes, and others can help your skin, your body, and the environment. Here is my list of favorites that I love to use in the summer. There are some for all!

1. Blue Lizard

These products are so fun, they picked a lizard in reference to a chameleon that changes color for protection! brilliant! Their bottle and caps change color for reminders to put on your sunscreen. This brand is active in reef and environmental protection, and cares so much for your skin. They have recently stopped adding ingredients like Oxybenzone to their water-resistant sunscreen because they are harmful to the coral and water ecosystems. This sunscreen is so good for the whole family. They have a sunscreen for every need.

2. Hello Bello

I am usually not a huge Walmart shopper, but I am attracted to Hello Bello, the baby brand, and this sunscreen is at the top of my list. Not only is it safe for the whole family including baby, but is reef safe, vegan, cruelty free and provides an ultimate protection against all three types of UV rays. I love This sunscreen that is FDA approved! If I cannot, or do not want to use it on my baby, I don't want it for me and my family.

3. Badger

This brand is one of my favorites! Their skin care line features rose water from Bulgaria. Obviously when I was there, I bought the whole line! I absolutely love the ingredients they use and the care they have for the environment! The sunscreen has different ingredients from botanical oils that provide aromatic scents, or you can choose unscented. This brand picks ingredients and chooses vegan friendly, paraben free, organic, non-GMO, and is also gluten free! How much more ecofriendly can you be?

These are just the few of many sunscreens that make my list of safe, effective, and trusted products that I have with my family. Your skin is the first line of defense, and if we do not maintain and keep it healthy, the parts that the skin protects becomes exposed!
